George had recently donated his Oscar gift-bag to the United Way for charity. The bag includes: a two-night getaway in Carmel, Calif., a BlackBerry 8700c, a vintage silk kimono, a Tahitian pearl necklace – and a handwritten thank-you note from Clooney.

The winner has not been identified, but the money will be used for the United Way’s hurricane response and relief recovery fund, organization spokeswoman Sheila Consaul tells the Associated Press.
